A Little About Me I have been teaching for 26 years. 12 of those years have been at Ayden Elementary School teaching the 4th grade. I started my career at Grifton School, and was there for 6 years before my husband was transferred. I spent a quick year working at Shallotte Middle School, and 6 years at Ayden-Grifton High School working with exceptional needs students. I am happy to say I have worked with all grade levels K-12th grade at some point in my career. I LOVE teaching 4th graders!
I received my BS in Elementary Education K-6 and a Reading Concentration K-12 from East Carolina University in 1991. I received my Master's degree in Elementary K-6 the following year in 1992. In 1993, I finished my Learning Disabilities Master's degree. I love East Carolina University and I am an avid Pirate football fan. I attend all home football games. (ARGHhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! GO PIRATES!)
I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. I was initially certified in 2001. I renewed my certification in 2010. I continue to be a life long learner.
More importantly, I am a wife and a mother of 3 children. My oldest son is a junior at East Carolina studying Business. My middle daughter is a junior at Ayden-Grifton High School where she is a cheerleader. My youngest son is a 5th grader here at Ayden Elementary. My family also includes our sweet dog, Zeke and cat, Sysco. When I am not teaching, I love traveling, photography, and relaxing on the beach. I stay busy enjoying my family.
